Boyd Michael - RHS Class of 1931

  • Football starter at RHS in the first year of football at the school
  • Ran 90 yards in last minute for a Touchdown to beat Moorefield 13 to 12 - 1st game on field adjacent to the school
  • (Only 2 boys on the team had ever seen a football game and none had ever played before.)
  • Basketball and Baseball - Played a few games
  • Outstanding horseman - went to State championship in Jousting
  • Avid fly fisherman

Allen Swick - RHS Class of 1944

  • Football, Basketball and Baseball - 3 sport star at RHS
  • Football - Center on 6-1-1 team 1943
  • Basketball - 3-year starting Center
  • All-PVC 1943 and 1944
  • Baseball - Standout Pitcher
  • Basketball and Baseball - Played Shepherd College
  • Had offers from the Philadelphia Athletics and Pittsburgh Pirates
  • 2006 Shepherd College Hall of Fame Inductee

Don Maphis - RHS Class of 1948

  • Football, Basketball and Baseball standout at RHS
  • Football - 2-year letterman and starting Center on 7 to 2 team 1948
  • Basketball - starting Shooting Guard and Forward
  • All-PVC 1948
  • Baseball - starting Cathcher
  • All-State 1948
  • Baseball - Played in the Army and had try-outs with the Brooklyn Dodgers and Chicago White Sox
