Volunteer Procedures

Everyone considering becoming a school volunteer should take a few minutes to watch this training video about student privacy and confidentiality - School Volunteers and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Video.

To become a volunteer, you must complete this updated Volunteer Agreement Form (DOC) which requires an interview and approval by the school principal and two letters of recommendation from non-relatives. Be sure to read the directions on this page and on the second page of the Volunteer Agreement Form. After you complete the form and get the principal's approval, you must go online to Background Investigation Bureau (BIB) and pay your $19.45 fee to obtain your BIB background check. After receiving your background clearance, you will receive your card and can be approved by the Board of Education as a volunteer. Current volunteers also need to obtain the background check to renew their card.
