First time users of the West Virginia Application System web site must create an account following the directions on the site and save their preliminary profile information regarding certification, tenure, etc. before applying for a job or transfer.  This requires an email account. Hampshire County employees who already have accounts must apply for posted openings by completing a West Virginia Transfer Application


Prospective substitute teachers with a Bachelors degree with at least a 2.0 GPA that is not in education must complete an approved training program to obtain a substitute permit, but should complete the above initial online application first. 

Options for Sub Training

WVDE Initial Training Online to Obtain a Long-Term or Short-Term Substitute Permit 
- This course is FREE online and takes 3 weeks.
Also offers FREE online sub permit renewal class that takes 7 weeks.

EPIC (formerly RESA) Face-to-Face Training to Obtain Initial or Renewal Long-Term or Short-Term Substitute Permit 
- This training is 2 days at a designated location and costs $150
This also can be used for renewal of a sub permit.
