Education Rights of Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness

Every Teacher, Administrator & Director must read –

ü  Hampshire County Policy 5111.01 defining a Homeless student and defining responsibilities of the County Liaison.

ü  The McKinney-Vento  Homeless  Assistance Act  explaining the federal mandate for Homeless Children.

If you as a teacher suspect that a student could possibly be homeless, then contact your school counselor by filling out a Homeless Notification Form - pdf version or (Word version)

You may then be asked to complete or assist in completion of a confidential Student Residency Form to verify information in order for students to receive services.  This form is a Word document and may be typed and then printed for signing.
