WVGSA – West Virginia General Summative Assessment

Hampshire County School students participate in the State-wide assessment, West Virginia General Summative Assessment (WVSGA).

  • Students grades 3-8
  • The assessment for students 3-8 is completed entirely online.
  • Student will test over multiple days, one test per day.
  • Students grade 3-8 will be assessed in ELA and Math
  • Students in grades 5 and 8 will also be assessed in Science.
  • Each assessment is estimated to take the student approximately 2 hours to complete.
  • Assessment is proctored by a trained staff member

State Testing Window: March 29, 2021 – May 28, 2021

SAT School Day Assessment

Students in Grade 11 participate in the SAT school day assessment.

  • All students in grade 11 will be assessed
  • The spring SAT date is April 13, 2021 at Hampshire High School.
  • The spring SAT make-up day is on April 27, 2021 at Hampshire High School.
  • This assessment takes approximately 4 hours to complete.
  • Participating students may have the opportunity to use their results for college entrance determination.
  • Assessment is proctored by a trained staff member.

Benchmark Data

PALS – Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening

Students in grades Pre-K through 2nd grade take the PALS assessment.

Diagnostic assessment window dates are as follows:

Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten

  • Beginning of the year: October 26, 2020 – November 18, 2020
  • Middle of the year: January 18, 2020 – February 8, 2021
  • End of the year: April 5, 2021 – April 26, 2021

Grades 1st and 2nd:

  • Beginning of the year: September 21, 2020 – October 19, 2020
  • Middle of the year: January 25, 2021 – February 15, 2021
  • End of the year: April 12, 2021 – May 3, 2021

iReady

Students in grades 1st through 8th take a benchmark assessment using the program iReady.

Diagnostic assessment window dates are as follows:

  • Beginning of the year: September 14, 2020 – September 25, 2020
  • Middle of the year: December 2, 2020 – December 22, 2020
  • End of the year: March 15, 2021 – April 2, 2021

CA-CIA – Computer Adapted Comprehensive Interim Assessment

Students in grades 3rd through 8th take the CA-CIA (Computer Adapted Comprehensive Interim Assessment) during the window of January 11, 2021 – January 29, 2021.


Referral for Testing for Special Services/Programs

In order to be tested for eligibility for Special Services/Programs, students must go through a referral process.  See the Special Programs page for more information.  There are several referral forms that may be used to request services:
