[ARCHIVED] Superintendent's Mar. 29 update on meals to be distributed for week of Mar. 31 - April 3

March 29, 2020

Dear Parents,

Hampshire County Schools will continue to provide meals for the students within our county through this COVID-19 crisis.  We began the transition of moving to a more efficient model of packaging and delivering multi-day meals last week to minimize exposure and effectively utilizing our staff volunteers.  This week we are taking additional steps to keep our students, parents, and volunteer staff safe.

Beginning this week, our school system will be implementing a plan to serve our students for the duration of this crisis.  We have joined with counties throughout the state and will be distributing prepackaged, multi-day meal boxes that provide breakfast and lunch for five days.   Our county is scheduled to receive our first shipment on Tuesday.  We are busily making plans for getting the boxes out to our students.   We will continue to use our buses to deliver food, but not all schools will be a drive thru/pick-up site.

We ask our parents to be patient, understanding, and remember we continue to operate in a very fluid situation that requires constant change.  However, feeding children remains one of our top priorities.

We will provide additional information on Monday evening sharing the starting times of buses, and exact school drive thru/pick-up locations and times.

Thank you for your continued cooperation.

May God bless you and keep you safe!

Jeff Pancione, Superintendent
